CAL STATE AND UC APPLICATION WORKSHOPS!!!

Come join our two college advisers, Lupita Martinez and Alex Duong, as they conduct workshops in the Career Center for the Cal State and UC applications! The Cal State workshop will be held Tuesday, October 22, and the UC workshop will be held on Wednesday, October 23. Space is limited to the first 32 students!

HALLOWEEN NEWS

Halloween is fast approaching and SAFETY at Alhambra High School is a priority. We aim to ensure that ALL students and staff members feel comfortable throughout the day with the attire and behavior of all persons on school grounds. To accomplish this objective, we request your assistance and cooperation on some important details.
Please choose a tasteful costume that does not reflect derogatory references, violence, and/or inappropriate "props." Prohibited items include: 1. Fake blood; 2. Plastic or replica swords, guns, knives, and weapons of any kind are not allowed; 3. Masks; 4. Inappropriate costumes (dress code enforced); and 5. Face painting.
Students must show respect for others by not choosing costumes that are insensitive and/or offensive to the diverse backgrounds represented by others at our school. Our expectation is to make this a safe experience for all students!

LIBRARY CHECK-OUT CLOSED

Beginning Wednesday, October 9th, the library circulation system will be going through an upgrading process, and thus, no books will be able to checked out until Monday, October 28th. Books may still be returned. Thanks for your understanding.

THESPIANS PRESENT THE FALL PLAY!!!

Come out for an evening to support the AHS Thespians and see "Fools" - a comedic play by famed writer Neil Simon. Play dates are November 8 & 9, and 15 & 16, all beginning at 7:00pm in the AHS auditorium. Ticket prices are as follows: $8.00 student pre-sale, $10.00 adult pre-sale and $12.00 at the door. It will be an enjoyable evening for all!

ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE WILL NOW FEATURE 2 ASSEMBLIES

The new assembly schedule will now feature two 45-minute assemblies in the auditorium. In addition, the new class seating chart has been issued. Please click on the headline to download. Important Earth Quake Information

All of our schools have a comprehensive safety plan and a portion of that addresses how to manage a site during and after an earthquake. As part of our safety plan, our schools practice earthquake drills so that staff and students are prepared. All of our schools are prepared with a response plan, emergency supplies, including water, and AED’s.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NAM NGUYEN, SPEECH STATE CHAMPION!

Nam Nguyen, a junior at AHS in Speech & Debate, has become the State Champion in Oratorical Interpretation with his piece, "Dennis Shepard's Statement to the Court." The speech was originally read to the court in November of 1999 following the conviction of the murder of Shepard's son, Matthew. This year, almost 200 teams descended upon Cal State Long Beach for this year's annual tournament.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AHS THESPIANS!!!

A hearty congratulations to the AHS Thespians for earning several nominations and awards at the 14th Annual National Youth Arts Awards for the 2018-2019 season! This is a very exciting opportunity for our students, who will now join the ranks of previous NYA award winners, many of whom are currently starring on Broadway, in National Tours, and on TV and Film such Dear Evan Hansen, Hamilton, and the new film Shazam! Alhambra High School earned 4 awards and 5 additional nominations!
