Alhambra HS Wins Prestigious Golden Bell Award for Moor Friends!

Alhambra High School just won a prestigious Golden Bell Award for its Moor Friends Program! Moor Friends was founded on the premise that help nurture a growing culture of establishing long lasting friendships across the student body. The groups helps to forge unique partnerships and bonds between general education and special education students. Teachers Melissa Martinez, Wendy Osawa and Jamie Peralta spearhead the program. In its 39th year, the Golden Bell Award honors public school programs innovation, sustainability, and best practices that facilitate positive student outcomes.

Parent Walk Through Proves Fun and Enjoyable for all!

On November 15, 23 parents and guardians descended upon Alhambra High School and strode through the campus with administrators, visiting a plethora of classrooms during the morning hours. They were able to witness instruction and collaboration with teachers and students as it happened. Each was thoroughly impressed by much of the interaction and demonstrations throughout their tour.

Bravo! to AHS Thespians for "Flowers For Algernon"

A resounding standing ovation to the entire cast and crew of the Alhambra High School Thespians with its fall presentation of the gripping story, "Flowers For Algernon." Ms. Rachel Snow and her entire ensemble did a superb job!!! We look forward to the spring musical. (The clue to the title of the spring musical became featured on the last page of the fall play playbill...)

E.Coli in Romaine Lettuce Update

The CDC and FDA have issued an E. Coli Contamination Warning on Romaine lettuces and related products. They recommend that people should not consume any romaine lettuce until more information is known about the source of the contamination and the status of the outbreak. In response to the warning, Food and Nutrition Services have decided to remove all Romaine Lettuces from our menus until the warning is lifted. If students and parents have any concerns, please contact Food and Nutrition Services.

Spring Musical "Chicago" Tryouts Approaching

Tryouts for the exciting Spring Musical, "Chicago," will be occurring on Thursday, January 10, 2019, beginning at 3:30pm and lasting until 6:30pm in the auditorium. Bring your sneakers (or dance shoes) and comfortable clothing, and be familiar with the classic Broadway song, "All That Jazz." Call backs will be the following day, Jan. 11 at 3:30pm.

AP Parent Info Meeting

Alhambra High School will be hosting its annual AP Parents Information Meeting on Thursday, February 7, 2019, to inform parents about next year's Advanced Placement program and program changes for the upcoming school year. The General Session will begin at 5:30pm in the auditorium, and then move to breakout sessions at 6:30pm in the library and various classrooms in the D Building.

Also, congrats to Ms. Melissa Martinez and Mr. Jurgio Valinhas for each being awarded the AUSD Badge Award for October! And an extended congratulations to Mr. Valinhas for being chosen for the Game Changer Award for the month of October!
