SPRING MUSICAL "CHICAGO" DEBUTS APR. 19

The spring musical, "Chicago" (the high school version) is just around the corner with opening night slated for April 19th. Running for two weeks, come and check out the play in all its sparkling gala. Student prices: $10/pre-sale and $12/door. Adult prices: $12/pre-sale and $15/door.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AHS SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPT. FOR WINNING A CIVIC LEARNING AWARD!!!

The Alhambra High School Social Sciences Department has just been given a Civic Learning Award by the Los Angeles County of Education! The award recognizes excellence in engaging students in unique classes, clubs and programs in civic learning and to identify models that can be replicated. Alhambra was one of twenty-eight schools out of 92 statewide to be given this prestigious award!!!

AP HONORS CLASSES NEXT YEAR NEED CONTRACT

If you are taking an AP or Honors course next year, a contract must be signed and submitted to the Office of School Counseling. In order to help students assess the amount of commitment each AP class takes coupled with extracurricular activities, students can meet with their counselor and go over their schedules. CAP AND GOWN PAYMENTS INFO

Cap and Gown payments will be accepted on March 11th to 12th in the auditorium foyer. Personal checks will be accepted and the cost is $15.88. Make-up day measurements will also be taken. The deadline to pay online is April 30th. Students are not obligated to purchase a cap and gown for graduation, but they must be returned prior to receiving a diploma. CAL STATE WRITING CENTER ON WEDNESDAYS

The Cal State LA Writing Center is now up and running! It will be open for business in room C126 after school on Wednesdays. Any student needing help with class assignments or college statements is welcome. Dr. Land from Cal State LA and retired Century High School teacher Ms. Jean Hooper will be guiding students needing help!

10 FFCLA members with awards

Congratulations to all members of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) who competed in the Region 9 Qualifying Recognition Event at Newport Harbor High School! Each placed in the top seven division awards and will now represent Alhambra HS at the State level in April!!! Winners were Kevin Vuong & Amity Wong - 1st in Environmental Ambassador; Queeny Zhang - 1st in Illustrated Talk; Adrian Yeung - 2nd in Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation; Daniella Reinoso - 2nd in Recycle & Redesign; Kelly Tang, Sean Lee & Kenny Zhou: 2nd in Entrepreneurship; Haley Orozco - 6th in Culinary Arts; and Darlene Chi - 7th in Child Development.
