THE SPRING MUSICAL, "ZOMBIE PROM," IS APPROACHING!!!

The AHS Thespians proudly present this year's spring musical, "Zombie Prom," will open on Friday, April 14 and 21, at 6:30pm; Saturday, April 15 and 22, at 6:30pm; with a Saturday matinee on April 15, at 11:00am. The location is the Alhambra High School Auditorium at 101 S. 2nd Street (between Main and Commonwealth). The 1996 musical, based on a short story by John Dempsey, is a camp comedy spoof of classic B horror movies and 1950s nostalgia.

It's time for us to update our LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan)! We want to get input from ALL our stakeholders (students, staff., families, and community members). The LCAP survey is open NOW and will stay open through March 24th. Schools that receive a high percentage of responses can receive funds to purchase student incentives for the PBIS stores ($1,000 for elementary schools and $2,000 for high schools)! The 2023 AP® Exam Terms and Conditions are now available to review at cb.org/apexamterms. Students will need to accept these terms and conditions prior to taking each exam. Any updates to the terms and conditions will be clearly summarized on the terms and conditions page. For AP courses with a portfolio submission (AP Art and Design, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Seminar, and AP Research), students will need to agree to the Digital Portfolio AP Exam Terms and Conditions before submitting their work as final in the AP Digital Portfolio.

Alhambra High School was selected as one of 52 recipients of California’s leading educational honor, the Golden Bell Award, for the Dream Center! The Golden Bell Awards, celebrating their 43rd year, are presented by the California School Boards Association to promote excellence in public education and school board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices. The awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting these programs that are necessary to address students’ changing needs. Congrats to Mr. Javier Gutierrez, Ms. Karen Jacboson, and all of the staff and students who assist with the Dream Center!

CA YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES TO BE HELD IN JULY!

Delegate applications are now available for the California Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities (YLF) which will be held virtually and in-person tentatively from July 13 through July 19. The YLF virtual dates will be July 13 to 15, 2023, using the Zoom platform. Delegates will then have one day off and come to Sacramento on Monday, July 17. The YLF will then continue in-person on July 17 to 19, 2023, at California State University, Sacramento, where 10th, 11th and 12th grade delegates stay in the dormitory for a college experience. The College Board continues with its virtual college exploration initiative designed to connect Black students and families with Black representatives from colleges and access organizations across the country. The first set of career events this month will feature young Black professionals in the tech, sports, and entertainment industries. Seniors and the their families can start planning ahead with the date of graduation set for Friday, May 26th, beginning at 1:00pm at the Rose Bowl. Seniors should arrive by 12:00pm to line up. This event is ticketless with cellphone/email addresses receiving ticket scans. More information on tickets to be forthcoming.
