Cohort programs
AHS has partnered with East Los Angeles College to bring the Early College Program to our campus. This program allows students to earn college credits and quite possibly an Associate’s degree at the conclusion of the 4 year program.
Recently added to our curriculum in Career Technical Education (CTE) is the Get Focused Program. This provides students the opportunity to receive dual enrollment course where students will earn three units of college credit at East Los Angeles College and high school credit upon completion of the course. Offered to freshmen, the one semester class enables students to create a 10 year career and educational plan, requiring them to identify goals and outline what courses and pathways they will be taking to achieve their post-secondary plans. All in all, the Career Choices curriculum guides students through the self-discovery process. During the second semester, students rotate through three CTE classes. Class options may include Wood, Digital Media, Computer Applications/Literacy, Foods, Accounting, Fashion, Architecture, Drafting, and Auto Technology. Lastly, AHS plans to implement the Stay Focused follow-up modules to grades 10, 11 and 12. As a bronze medal school for 2017, AHS has demonstrated exemplary implementation of the Career Choices series, an award-winning curriculum that builds college and career readiness skills as it walks students through the development of a personalized 10-year Plan.
Alhambra High School has instituted a California Partnership Academy titled Green Construction Academy that started with 10th grade students in 2008. It has expanded each year and now has cohort groups of students in all grade levels. GCA continues to adapt its goals to the new academic standards and overall environment.
