Career Center (Scholarship News!)

***SENIORS***: Interested in applying to the University of North Dakota? UND is offering scholarships for students with high GPA/SAT scores in the following criteria:

  $1,000-ACT of 22-24 or SAT of 1020-1120 and GPA of 3.5

  $6,000 ($1,500/year) – ACT of 25+ or SAT of 1130+ and GPA of 3.5+

  $10,000 (2,500/year) – ACT of 29-31 or SAT of 1290-1390 and GPA of 3.65+   

  $12,000 ($3,000/year) – ACT of 32-36 or SAT of 1400-1600 and GPA of 3.65+

***SENIORS***: The DREAMS organization is offering a $2,500 to students with an IEP. The distinctive mission of D.R.E.A.M.S. is to encourage and support those deserving students whose high school education was bolstered by an individualized education plan (I.E.P.). Scholarship: Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison (SCE), announces the application period for its 2014-15 Edison Scholars Program runs through Feb. 1, 2015. The $1.2-million program, which offers 30 scholarships valued at $40,000 each paid over four years, is for Southern California high school seniors with a 2.8 GPA or above who either live in or attend public or private high schools in SCE’s service area and plan to pursue college studies in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement (APCA)

SENIORS: Thursday January 29th counselors will be holding a Scholarship Application Workshop after school in the career center. So if you have not applied for a scholarship yet, or need help applying or completing your applications. Please come to the career center after school on Thursday and counselors will be there to help!

CSF Reminder For SENIORS:  You must have one semester of CSF membership during your senior year to qualify for “CSF Life Membership” (4 semesters).  To qualify for “CSF 100% Life Membership”  (6 semesters) you must attain CSF membership for both semesters of your senior year.  Please apply with your first semester grades!

SENIORS: Cash For College is coming!!   Saturday, January 31st from 9:00am – 11:30am, bring your parents.  Workshops will be conducted in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese.  Assistance for both FAFSA and Dream Act applications will be available in the Career Center Lab.

CSF Applications Due This Friday:  Apply NOW to be a member of the California Scholarship Federation, a statewide honor society for students.  Applications are in the Student Activities Office.  The deadline to apply is Friday, January 30 at 3:00 pm – NO EXCEPTIONS!  Be sure to include the $5.00 donation AND your ORIGINAL report card or an OFFICIAL CSF report card with your application in the required envelope.  Put it in the CSF box in the Activities Office.  Questions:  See Ms. Jacobson in C327 or Mrs. Kalbfleisch in C326.
