Go For Broke National Education Center is a nonprofit organization that exists to preserve the legacy of the Japanese American WWII veterans through education.  Through the generous support of our community, we have recorded the life stories of over 1,150 of these veterans; taught over 3,000 educators in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Maryland and Virginia; reached over 100,000 students through our teacher trainings and web-based digital curriculum; and welcomed over 100,000 visitors to the Go For Broke Monument near downtown Los Angeles. We are sponsoring a Student Essay and Video Contest that is open to high school students (grades 9-12) and college students (undergraduate and graduate).  Cash prizes will be awarded to approximately one dozen winners, with multiple top winners receiving $1,000 each.  Plus, the top twenty to thirty qualified winners will receive two complimentary tickets to attend our 26thAnniversary Evening of Aloha Gala Dinner this fall at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los Angeles.  At this gala dinner, the winners will be able to meet the Japanese American WWII veterans whom they researched about!  They will also be treated to an Awards Brunch the following day.
