Speech / Debate

The Alhambra High School Speech & Debate Team possesses a long standing tradition ever since it began in 1898 - the same year Alhambra High School was founded. Today, with over 140 members, the team travels around Southern California, attending over forty tournaments during the school year. The students are allowed to choose from among the five different Debate categories or twelve Speech categories in which to compete. The competition season begins in September and ends in May with the Summer Academy (for new students) starting in July. The team is Common Core Standards compliant, and students contribute their time and effort into helping to teach and maintain the team.
Students interested in either Speech or Debate, improving their speaking skills, acting or oratory, or who just want to participate in a worthwhile activity while in high school are invited to join.
