We welcome all families to attend our Parent University 2011!
Here are some of the great activities hosted by Gateway to Success.
Parent University 2010 In April of 2010, Gateway hosted a one-day conference inviting professionals from the community to provide 25 workshops to parents about various topics on education, health and emotional well-being. Over eleven hundred parents and children attended this conference.
The Bullying Campaign
Gateway created posters and a video-taped Public Service Announcement (PSA) to help prevent and stop bullying on campus. The PSA starred and was filmed by teens from San Gabriel High School. You might have seen the posters and even the PSA on your campus.
Incredible Years Parenting Classes
In May of 2010, Gateway provided classes for parents who have children between the ages of 3 to 5. These classes were held for 10 weeks and were in English, Chinese and Spanish. Over 30 parents participated in these classes.
Climate Survey
A district-wide survey went out to students, parents and teachers about their perceptions of the school. Among the many findings, one important finding was that approximately 78% of students felt safe at their school.
Counseling Services
Gateway continued to make counseling services available district-wide. Many community agencies like Alliant International University, Almansor and Pacific Clinics provided counseling services to the Alhambra Unified schools. Over 6,000 students were provided with help.
Gateway also puts out publications regarding various issues for parents, teachers or students; such as: depression, test aniety, trauma, and therapy These publications are located at Gateway Topics.
