A. Sign-in, Motion to start 3:16 p.m.
Welcome and Introductions around the table.
B. Review and approve January 25th meeting minutes
The Minutes of 1/25/2012 were reviewed and were approved.
Corrections were made and approved.
C. Parent Education Workshop – Phuong Nguyen
Tonight is the last nigh of a 7 (seven) series workshop with various topics: Bullying, Drugs, High School 101, A-G Requirements, Online Registration just to name a few. Consist of 5 different groups, about 60 parents total in attendance. Everyone is invited and welcome. Would like to continue next school year on a monthly basis to keep parents informed and involved. Had good feedback. Discussions regarding the effectiveness of the workshop. Questions and answers. Jennie Malonek will add and/or put on the website for next school year. $10,000 was allotted for this but was not all spent. For next school year, they are planning to start earlier. Have 5 weeks workshop in a row and then once a month.
D. Review CAHSEE Results from October Testing (if available)
CAHSEE results from Oct. 11 and 12th, 2011:
English-200 tested/53 passed;
Math-102/52 passed;
Testing will occur again in Feb. 2012. We have had 90% graduation rate;
Lengthy discussion. Questions and answers.
E. Monitor School Plan and make suggestions for school improvement goals/activities
It was suggested, like in the past to bring back the Health classes, Speech, and Career Pathways. Teachers/staff was sent to training, like Developmental Assets’. Would like to see Creative Classes/Creative Writing and Leadership classes.
F. WASC Update
Keisha and Brad spoke. School Plan and WASC documents tie in together. Review WASC Focus Action Plan, Program Improvement Plan and Single School Plan are for Student Achievement. Keisha will email copy of the Action Plan. Review and discussions regarding the Pyramid of Intervention, Achievement Gap and Cultural Gap.
G. Review of logistics for WASC Social (3/4)
Our visiting team will be here, Sunday, March 4 from 2:45-3:15 p.m. There will be an informal social for staff, parents, and community representatives in the school library.
