How to Get Involved on Campus


  1. SSC
  2. School Site Council 3 year terms, 2 total before term limits, then a teacher must sit out for a year before re-running. Self nomination process elections are once a year usually in the fall. The Council is responsible for the school emergency plan, the single school plan and some budgetary items. They oversee grant money when it is available.

  3. Catalyst
  4. 3 year term, no term limit. Self-nomination process elections are once a year. Catalyst is responsible for school change and reform and has the primary responsibility for all site professional development

  5. PTSA
  6. Parent Teacher Student Association meets monthly, fundraises and provides money to needy families and for teacher mini-grants. teachers must belong to be eligible to apply for grants.

  7. Tech Committee
  8. Offer mini software trainings, help implement technology on campus.

  9. Club Advisor
  10. Duties vary depending upon the club. AHS has NUMEROUS clubs. All clubs must have an advisor.

  11. Coach
  12. AHS offers many sports at several levels. If you are interested in coaching or just helping with a sport contact the athletic director: Jerry DeSantis.

  13. Faculty Committee
  14. Sponsors faculty potlucks, social events, retirement tea. Provides cards for birthdays, births and condolences. Plans the end of the year luncheon and fundraises for students scholarships.
