Green Academy

Green Academy digs in
The Green Construction Academy is available to 10-12 grade students and focuses on students who are designated as “at risk.” Students are co-horted in several academic classes during three years and are also enrolled in two years of wood tech and one year of drafting. In wood tech, students are taught traditional woodworking (furniture and cabinetmaking) with a focus on minimizing waste and utilizing environmentally conscious materials such as certified forest products, recycled materials, urban forestry products, and eco-friendly finishing products.

The Green Academy also participates in community efforts such as the city of Alhambra’s Eco Fair, building easels for The Academy of Special Dreams, and building planter boxes for the LIFT program.

Participation is voluntary. Recruitment is primarily done through the Exploring Technology classes and freshman English classes.
